The Pros and Cons of Living in the Country

When choosing a place to live, one often bases their decision on certain criteria. For most people these standards are associated with pollution, tranquility, socialization, and service availability. The first two touchstones are advantages, whereas the last two are, to some extent, disadvantages.
Pollution is a growing problem nowadays. However, by retiring in the country, this issue fades away. The air is clean, pleasant to breathe. The water in rivers is crystal, no floating particles can be seen. Open fields bring joy to the eyes due to the absence of garbage and dung-hills.
Another plus for living in the country is tranquility. People in big cities often complain about their neighbours quarreling, the incessant traffic noise and other side sounds. This, however, is not the case in the country. One gets their sleep under the sound of a living orchestra of nightingales and crickets. It is also proven that those who lead a calm life tend to live longer.
Although there are many benefits from being in the countryside, disadvantages aren’t an exception, either. One of them is socialization. Individuals who are used to communicate with their peers and hang around wouldn’t welcome this place of living. There aren’t many people in the rural areas, so to say.
Active persons would get frustrated by the lack of service availability. Internet, cable, canalization, sometimes even telephones – all these are somewhat limited. Cafes, discos, malls, supermarkets and bars are an untypical sight for peasant regions.
In conclusion, there are both pros and cons to living in the countryside, and it’s up to the single person to decide whether this type of life is for him or not.
