As children become teenagers, they must take on more and more responsibility.
Last year Christy and I sat down together and made out a list of basic chores. Then I wrote out clearly and stuck it on the fridge door. We agreed thet each chore undone 1$ off her weekly pocket money. When we have to do a bigger clean which takes more time, for example the Spring Clean, I always set the day and the time a week earlier. I warn Christy not to make any plans for that day and to have her homework finished. She usually starts from her room and I give her a time limit. Otherwise, she will spend the whole time in there. Rewards are as important as discipline. That's why when the Clean is done, I always give her some extra money or pay for a film.
